Neck Vessel Angioplasty
A method to increase blood flow in an artery or vein is angioplasty with stenting. A sizable artery that runs down either side of your neck is called the carotid artery. The carotid artery is involved in carotid angioplasty and stenting. The artery is opened during the treatment using a tiny tube with a balloon at its tip. Your brain receives blood that is oxygen-rich from the carotid arteries. One or both of these arteries are constricted, which is a disease known as carotid artery stenosis. Additionally, the brain receives less blood supply. Stroke may result from this. Stenting and carotid angioplasty can aid in reopening these arteries. It is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive technique. A small, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into an artery in your groin during the surgery. It will be delicately threaded up into the neck's problematic carotid artery. At the tip of the catheter is a little deflated balloon. The balloon inflates as it gets to the constricted area of your carotid. This widens the confined space. Angioplasty is the term used for this.
