Intravascular Ultrasound
Using intravascular ultrasonography (IVUS), medical professionals can examine blood vessels from the inside. It checks for obstructions and narrowings that can impair blood flow using sound waves. IVUS is a minimally invasive process that uses small tools and cutting-edge technology to do assessments that are easier on your body. Sound waves are used in intravascular ultrasonography (IVUS) to evaluate soft tissue. Real-time photos from inside your blood arteries are captured by tiny equipment. The coronary arteries and veins are frequently examined by intravascular ultrasonography. Other blood vessels may also be examined. IVUS examines blood vascular tissue by inserting a small tube (catheter) into the blood vessel. To get to the assessment region, a healthcare professional advances the catheter through an incision, usually in the groin. An ultrasound probe that produces high-frequency sound waves is attached to the tip of the catheter. Echoes are produced when sound waves strike the walls of blood vessels. The sound waves are transformed into real-time visuals by a computer.
